And in a blog he shared yesterday, he revealed that artist Stephanie Hans has drawn a variant cover for the first issue featuring the younger Jedi and an original Jedi wielding a green lightsaber. This latest reveal comes from author Cavan Scott, who’s penned the Star Wars: The High Republic comic series coming out next month. While we have seen the concept art of Yoda before when it was announced, some new art is giving us a better look at how a sprightly looking Yoda would appear during the High Republic era. That means we get to see (or rather, read about) Yoda when he’s in his prime - long, long prior to the days where he hid out on Dagobah and lived a simple life on the swamp. And we know from the premise of The High Republic series that the stories will take place 200 years prior to Episode I. The old Jedi Master was announced to return in this series a little earlier this year. And while the authors and creators of this series wished to keep it completely fresh and away from the Skywalker saga, there will be at least one character who makes a comeback in this prequel, prequel series: Yoda. Through his connection to the Force, Yoda was able to help the Jedi pinpoint a small piece of a wrecked starship moving at near lightspeed, from across the galaxy. In Charles Soule’s novel, Light of the Jedi, it is revealed that Yoda has been a part of the council for hundreds of years, and he was highly respected for his understanding of the Force during the High Republic era. With the thousands of active Jedi, it is no small feat to be among the top twelve, which is a signifier of his power and influence among the order. The prequel trilogy introduces the Jedi Council with Yoda as a clear leader among the most powerful Jedi. He almost single-handedly takes out droids and transports in the Clone Wars episode without breaking a sweat, and even has a sense of humor while doing it. In the season 1, episode 1 “Ambush”, the tiny Jedi Master finds himself facing an entire droid army with only three clone troopers to back him up. In Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Yoda occasionally finds himself in the thick of battle. He was unable to bring Dooku to justice because he opted to save the injured Obi-Wan and Anakin. In Star Wars: Episode II - Attack Of The Clones, there is no question that Yoda bested Count Dooku in both lightsaber technique and use of the Force. In physical manifestation of the Force, Yoda is almost unstoppable by all but the most powerful Force users. ![]()
